On Saturday 30th March one of our own Graham Booty attempted to complete the
Devizes to Westminster canoe race -
125 miles of continuous paddling,
125 miles of continuous paddling,
with the small matter of 77 portages where they have to carry the boat round locks and weirs......
UPDATE
As you can imagine, the only reason Graham wouldn't complete this challenge was if there was mechanical failure of the boat, and after smashing the rudder they did in fact have to retire from the race.
"After 15 hours of paddling suffered a mechanical when we bent our rudder on a submerged object for a second time and snapped it when trying to straighten it. Race over, and very gutted."
