The Essex vets xc champs...

The Essex vets xc champs take place on Saturday 29th November at Lambourne Road, Chigwell Row, Essex, IG7 6EN and hosted by Ilford AC.

If you wish to run please put your name below and we will send the entries off this week.

Race 1 is for vet 35 women & over 50 men @ 11am and Race 2 is for over 40 men. Both races are over the same course of approx. 5 miles/8km.

We need at least 4 per category for a team (but more will increase the competition to score!) and have won team & individual medals in this before so please run if you can so we can put out some strong teams.

IN MEMORY OF AUDREY...

IN MEMORY OF AUDREY - Dear All, After the terrible recent loss of 'Nanny' Audrey Clark the family have decided to set up a JustGiving page in memory of Audrey and to help raise both awareness of and funds for Sarcoma UK, which I have helped set up. Audrey battled sarcoma cancer tremendously, beating it 6 times in a 9 year period and showing incredible bravery, before finally losing the battle aged 76. All the time she never lost her famous smile and wonderful, cheery personality! As well as by giving online via the page attached, you can also make a donation direct to Mandy Cooper or at club nights through Brian Lunt who will kindly pass it on to the family to add to the collection. Please share the page if you know of people outside of the club who may have known Audrey and who may also wish to donate. Mandy, Eddy and family would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind wishes, support and love they have been shown from their running family. x

Essex XC Race #2 - 15th November

NEXT RACE

15th NOVEMBER  Hylands park

Entrance to Hylands Park is from the A414 Writtle By-Pass where there is car park access to the right. The nearest postcode for Sat-Nav users is CM1 3RL which is approximately 300m from the Writtle entrance.

There are toilets in the car park, but unfortunately there are no changing facilities. The start and finish areas are just beyond the children’s play area.

The only refreshments available are in the old stable block near the main house and these are at commercial prices.

We will be using the same course as last year ( subject to the park owners amendments, if any ) with one or two small changes where trees have fallen and a path through the woods has been blocked by the owners.
A course map will be sent out by next weekend and I hope to have it on the Chelmsford Athletic Clubs website soon.

Last year we were asked by the park owners to request that young runners do not use the wooden playground area if they are wearing spikes, as spikes damage the wooden surface, they are of course free to play on the playground with ordinary shoes if they wish to do so.

There will be an under 11 race the start times are U11 Girls 11.15am and U11 boys 11.30am. £3 each. You can enter this through the C S A C ( Chelmsford Sports and Athletics Centre ) web site or you can enter on the day for £4, but please get there and enter early, it will be easier for all if you pre enter. these races have to start on time.

There is a typing error on the entry form that still has not been amended, on the day of the race you must be either nine or ten years of age, if you are eleven you cannot enter this race. Please do not try and enter this race through Chelmsford Athletics Club it can only be entered through C S A C.

U13 Girls 12:00pm 3.2K 2 small laps
U13 Boys 12:20pm 3.2K 2 small laps
U15 Girls 12:40pm 4K 1 small lap and 1 medium lap
U 15 Boys 1:00pm 4K 1 small lap and 1 medium lap
U 17/U20W 1:20pm 4.9K 1 small lap and 1 large lap
Women/U17 Men 1:40pm 6.2K 2 large laps
Senior Men 2:15pm 8.1K 1 small lap and 2 large laps
