Christmas Drinks

Paul Ruffy will be going to the Hoy for a drink Saturday night and in the absence of a Christmas event this year you may wish to go and have a social drink.

After Thursday the club will re-open on the 2nd January.

I will be running over the holiday so keep any eye on facebook and I will let you know when so that anybody who wishes can join me.

Essex Vets XC 30/11/13 - Details

This years Essex Vets XC will take place at Ashton Playing Fields, Claybury IG8 8AA on Saturday 30th November.

The races are as follows:
11am - over 50's men and over 35's women
12 noon - over 40's men

Team of 4 to score. Distance approx 8k (5 miles) for each race. team (M50, M40 and W35) and individual (M40/M50/M60/M70 & W35/W45/W55/W65) prizes will be awarded.

Competing clubs are expected to provide a marshal to assist the host club.

Race HQ/Canteen at Ashton Playing Fields, 10 min walk to start. Parking available here and some roads near to start.

Next XC cancelled from 15/12

I can now confirm the xc on the 15th December has been cancelled and rescheduled for the 16th March. That leaves just one xc now in December which is the Essex league race on the 7th at Hylands Park.

Great effort at today's SEEXC R2 - We came 2nd behind Billericay which means we need to win all of the remaining 3 races to retain the league 1 trophy.

Great marathon training race, and it's only £ 6 entry fee if you enter before 31st December.

Saturday session 9th November will be at Gloucester Park

Tomorrow's Saturday session will be at Gloucester Park at 9am and not from John Burrows this week. Meet at 9am in the car park down the single lane track near the hills for some hilly circuits as practice for the Essex league race on the 16th and the South Essex league race on the 17th. Bring your spikes and off road shoes as you'll need them!

Essex Cross Country R2 - 16th November 2013

Basildon Sporting Village, Gloucester Park North, Cranes Farm Road, Basildon SS14 3GR.

There will be an U11 race to be run before the main league time table. The U11 race for Girls and Boys will be at 11.30. Medals for the first three of each race and team medals for first team of four home for both girls and boys. There will be a charge of £1.00 for each entry and entries close at 11.15 promptly. This is for children in school years 5/6 and must be U11 on the day of the race.

Parking is at IFDS on Upper Mayne A176. You will be directed there by staff at BSV. This is a five minuet walk away less if you walk quickly ! Refreshments are available at BSV .

Maps of the course  will be on our website www.basildonathleticsclub.co.uk  and on display at the venue. The time table is as published in the rules starting with the U13 Girls race at 12.00 midday.

This weekend is the first SEEXC League race hosted by us, so we will need help on Saturday (26th) 12.30pm to set-up the course - meet at the Mountain Bike Area, and marshalls on Sunday (27th) 9am - meet at the Finish Area - thanks in advance.

Essex Cross Country #1 -- 19th Oct

Details for the first cross country event on Saturday 19th October 2013.

 

The venue for the event is the same as last year; Great Notley Country Park, Discovery Centre, Great Notley, Braintree, Essex, CM77 7FS.  Maps of the course will be on our websitehttp://www.braintreeanddistrictac.co.uk and will be displayed on the day.

 

There is parking at the venue but please inform your members that there is a ticket machine at a cost of £3.  You can park at the local Tesco but there is a time limit of 2 hours.

 

Can you please remember to stress to your athletes not to change in the café/food area. There are new people running the café this year and people changing there will be asked to leave. There is a changing area so please ask them to use it.

 

The race times are as published in the Rules with the first race starting at 12 noon.

Notice to all Club Members - the date is set for the 2014 Benfleet 15 on 19th January 2014.

Bobby will be posting the Marshall List up soon. Please keep this day free in your diary, as it is your chance to help, support and volunteer to make this race (now in it's 24th year) a success again.

She became the European U20 Champion at 400m hurdles this weekend in Rieti, Italy. She also became 3rd on the all time list of fastest times behind Perri Shakes Drayton & Megan Beesley.
